Monday

Hi Stranger!

Strangers in the night, exchanging glances… strangers in the night making advances.. Okay, I’m crazy! They’re coming to take me away, ahah! They’re coming to take me away.

Though I missed hearing from you this week, it’s been a good one, especially the weekend. I’ll tell you about it.

FRIDAY - I went to Mary’s for Trick or Treat w/Barb, B.C. and ALL the kids. We had a blast! Caroline was extra precious that night. I painted her up like a clown and she had a big, red nose and a red wig with glitter in it. It was funny. Bless her heart, she was a real trooper. All the bigger kids were way ahead of her ringing doorbells, etc. but she did her best to keep up. Even when it was way past her bedtime.

(2021 comment - Think by this time, Barb had sold Mary her house in Mesquite. That was always sooo very gracious to me.)

Tuesday the 4th

Well, I heard from you last night. YEA! I LOVE YOU! And even though you had had a bad day et al, you sounded precious. I loved it when you said (very sweetly I may add) “I miss you, too!” But it’s only 21 more days, and since it’s nearly 11:00 a.m. It's closer to 20 days. GREAT! I don’t know about you, but I could stand for a wild romp in the bed! (Clear throat here, after pursing lips and raising eyebrows.) I love our little inside jokes or whatever you call them; they’re fun.

It’s been raining today. I was terribly splashed by a car while waiting for the bus. My whole right side was wet. It even got in my ear. Oh well! I almost laughed, it’s better than getting mad and crying.

I want to go by your parent’s house tonight. I want to remind them in person about my show Saturday night. I’d just like to say hello, anyway. I’m voting right after work, then going to change clothes at Mom’s and take my stuff back to my apartment, then (hopefully) to your parents, then to see DeeAnn and Brian’s (D&B) new house in Plano.

Wednesday

Well, I went to your parents’ house last night for a while. Your dad is out of town, as always. But I had a good visit with your mom and Kevin. I really love your brother. When I came up to the door, there he was with his arms open wide to give me a very warm hug. Pretty neat! I feel like I have another brother again. He’s very sweet. We’re going to see Rich Hall (Sniglets comic) tonight. He’s picking me up at the bus stop and we’re going from there. Your mom and Kevin (maybe your dad) are definitely coming to my program Saturday night. That’ll be great!

DeeAnn’s house was very nice. It’s cute. But boy, it’s way out in Plano. It’s a good 30 minutes drive from my place. I tried going there from your place, but to no avail. I ended up going back to LBJ and starting all over again. By the time I got to her place, I had such a headache, it took me a while to admire her house. But it is nice. Luckily, I was in a good mood all day yesterday after our conversation on Monday, that no matter what happened, it didn’t seem so bad. (I had a disc foul up yesterday and erased all my day’s work which some has come back today and had to be retyped.) But because my baby said he loved and missed me, I was and have been in a great mood. Love prevaileth all!

I called a friend today, Carl Scaglione, to wish him a Happy Birthday. I haven’t talked to him since 1980. He was delighted. The last I saw him, he was going to be a director. I asked if he was a director yet, and he said no. He’s just a professional actor. I think that’s great. I love to see someone really do what they always wanted to do. I guess you’re one of those kind of persons, huh?

Well, I’ll write again after our conversation tomorrow night. I hope you remember to call me at Mary’s.

Gotta go!

Love ya’ very much!

Janie

A Matter of Trust - by Billy Joel

Some love is just a lie of the heart The cold remains of what began with a passionate start And they may not want it to end But it will it's just a question of when I've lived long enough to have learned The closer you get to the fire the more you get burned But that won't happen to us

Because it's always been a matter of trust I know you're an emotional girl It took a lot for you to not lose your faith in this world I can't offer you proof But you're going to face a moment of truth It's hard when you're always afraid You just recover when another belief is betrayed So break my heart of you must

It's a matter of trust You can't go the distance With too much resistance I know you have doubts

But for god's sake don't shut me out This time you've got nothing to lose You can take it, you can leave it Whatever you choose I won't hold back anything And I'll walk a way a fool or a king Some love is just a lie of the mind It's make believe until it's only a matter of time And some might have learned to adjust

But then it never was a matter of trust I'm sure you're aware love We've both had our share of Believing too long

When the whole situation was wrong Some love is just a lie of the soul A constant battle for the ultimate state of control After you've heard lie upon lie There can hardly be a question of why Some love is just a lie of the heart The cold remains of what began with a passionate start But that can't happen to us Because it's always been a matter of trust

Monday

This was a really fun and good weekend. Here goes detailed info.

FRIDAY - This was a dress rehearsal for our Broadway Show at Richland entitled Off Broadway starring the Way Off Broadway Players. Dress rehearsal went pretty bad and Diana and Bea were in the audience. (They couldn’t make it Saturday show night.) On my number “I Enjoy Being a Girl,” the lights completely went out on stage during my intro of the song. I kept singing, though. It was quite funny. And as far as “Big Spender” goes, I buffed up on some of my part. I forgot a motion. Oh well, as they say, “Bad Rehearsal, good performance.” That was true.

SATURDAY - It was a blast! I’d like to do it over a few more times. No problems with my solo, in fact, it went extremely well. And “Big Spender” went great! Everyone said I was by far the best one in that number. I’m greatly pleased. A lot of people (my friends) were there including Kevin Knight and he and John’s parents, Bob and Jeannie. They really enjoyed the show. (2021 - wow - really don’t remember them coming -wow) - LouAnn, Art and her daughter, Susan and her boyfriend, Sanford, also came. In fact, they brought me flowers and roses! I was deeply touched. (it’s moments like these that I am SO glad I kept a journal.. Loved me some LouAnn - and now she’s gone.) I gave LouAnn a big hug and whispered to her “I know you’re not a hugger-type, but I’m giving you one anyway.” She laughed and gave me a big hug right back. That was great! I was SO up! Bob told me that John really missed something by not seeing my prostitute number. He said I really fit the part. I didn’t know whether to thank him or slap his face (it was funny) Kevin K. thought I was very good in both numbers. Also others who came… Barry, Kevin Q, DeeAnn, Brian and Sherri (who is in the beginning Voice Class now.) And of course, Mom and Mary. (Dad was deer hunting so he wasn’t there… POOP!) Too bad! I may not be in anything quite that fun again. You just never know!

LouAnn just called (she’s on vacation today) and told me she really enjoyed the show again. She asked if I had introduced Mary to Steve. I did. Mary thinks Steve is really precious. Of course. I have good taste. Now all I have to do is see if Steve is up to dating other people than this Erica girl (some girl he’s been dating; but I don’t think she’s his girlfriend, per se.) When they met, Steve said “Well, I see you have that beaming smile just like Janie.” That flattered both of us.

In the show, the best numbers were probably “Officer Krupke” and “Tonight.” “Tonight” was sung by Diane ____________ and our Mark Hall. The name Mark Hall should be familiar because we used to date some. A couple of different times. He was my first cruise romance. But after the second day on that one, we parted as friends only, whereas, after the second day with John, it was evident it was more than just a romantic fling. Mark was always more of a friend than anything else. He always seemed to be there when I was about to or had just broken up with someone, way back in 1981 with Carl (we broke up right after the cruise) and shortly after Barry and I broke up. Mark stole the show as far as the men were concerned. He’s a really good bass.

Me - 3rd from the Right in Sweet Charity as a prostitute - "I don't just pop my cork for anyone." - well that was true! LOL

Friday

Well you toot! WE haven’t talked now in over a week. I hate that! I know we’re both busy and all, but I feel a void when we miss our talks. Last Sunday, we missed each other by 15 minutes. Remember that if I’m not at my apartment on Sundays, I’m at Mom’s usually doing laundry. 278-2397. You know, it’s funny (especially after my strange emotions a few weeks ago) but even though we haven’t communicated in a week or so, I am so sure of our love. Maybe it’s because we only have 10 days and about 12 hours til we see, touch and hold each other. To be able to talk in person… wow! That’ll be great!

Since we haven’t talked, there’s more about my concert night I want to say. Your parents were great. Mom said your mom and she talked like they’ve known each other for years. Pretty neat, huh? Both your mom and Dad hugged me big-time and your dad kissed me on the cheek. Mary said she’d like to bundle your dad up and take him home. She really liked both, especially him. Babe, I feel SO close to your family, I really do. After the show, I went out to the Filling Station with Mom, Mary, Kevin Q., Sherri, a few people from the show and your bro. He wanted to go. I thought that was great. He sat by Mary and they talked a lot. Isn’t that all neat? - Mark Hall - did you go??

I had a goofy dream about you and your family last night. We were in a club and all of a sudden, I stood up to sing a song. I was totally making up the tune and words, yet everyone said I did great. It was funny. What was hysterical is that after I woke up, I realized what tune it was. Crazy as it sounds, it was the theme song to Knots Landing. I laughed myself to sleep when I figured it out. What a goofball!

I’m spending the night with Mary tonight and going Christmas shopping tomorrow. She called my friend, Steve, and left a message for him to call her. She was really impressed when she met him. She wants them to just go to a movie or something and maybe, if that goes pretty well, the four of us will go dancing when you’re here. (Oh, I guess that makes sense to wait until you’re here.) TEE HEE!

(2021 comment - Just found/figured out this very same night that his family came to see me… ME in the most fun time onstage… JOhn was pulling his future wife out of the audience in a program HE was in… - geesh)

“I believe in love and I believe in you.” I LOVE YOU! “Love is forever with you.” Recognize that?

KVIL has been playing Footloose a lot lately. I think of you strongly every time.

Mary Faye has been on vacation all week, and we’ve been having a blast! Everybody has gotten along extremely well since June got married. It’s weird!

Oh how did your directing for the Choir go? It’s hard to believe we haven’t talked since before that!

Gotta go! Wanna mail this now!
