(2021 comment - The Oscars were April 11 - Gandhi received Best Pic! Love Love Loved that movie! But it's sooo hard to compare Gandhi to Tootsie or E.T.??)
I remember going to see it with Kevin Q and Dee Ann. It got very, very loud in one part and Kevin was trying to tell me something - when silence hit and Kevin was shouting! We laughed sooo much! Kevin always has cracked me up.

Boy, did I have a good weekend! You know I haven’t really gotten too much attention from any guy since Randall. Well, last Friday night cured that. Kevin, Sherri and I met Bradley and Bob (Bradley’s roommate) at Humperdink’s. Well, I thought Bradley and Bob knew most of the guys they were shooting pool with, so I introduced myself to all of them. (It turned out they only knew two guys.) Oh well, I met some cuties. When I first got there, Bob hugged me tightly and said “Hello good-looking!” I needed that. I felt awfully pretty, by the way. All the guys there were real nice to me and some bought me some drinks (an awful lot of drinks). This is the first time I have had anything to drink since the day Alyce left work in February. Needless to say, the alcohol went through me rapidly. Also, I hadn’t had any supper. But, it felt good. It made me extremely friendly.
At one point, I went up to the bar, and a guy named Randy, (I had introduced myself to him earlier), asked me if I were married. When I said “No” he said “Would you like to be married?” I loved the attention. I, of course, said “No” but it came with a flirty giggle. Fun, fun, FUN! I felt like I was in Heaven. I really need this kind of attention every once in a while. (I hadn’t had this much fun since Adda’s pajama party when I met Randall.) Bob bought me a few more drinks and by that time, I was ready to dance on the pool table. They guys were ready for me to dance also. If it weren’t for Sherri being there, (ole’ Mother Hen) I probably would have. TEE HEE! I guess it’s a good thing she was there. (Oh, Kevin hardly talked to me all night, I know he was steaming with jealousy.)
Bob and I got along really well that night. He’s a neat guy. Nothing to bring home to Daddy (except as a friend), but a lot of fun. I don’t know if I have ever said anything about him before, but he’s the one that on Kevin and Kathleen’s birthday party, (Chili’s), I was having so much fun with Bob and then I left to meet Randall, Todd and Linda at Randall’s grandmother’s guest house, and then I had a rotten time and had wished I stayed with Bob the whole time. But Friday night made up for it. It’s kind of funny, I don’t like him enough to go on an official date with him, but I’d love to be with him when we’re with a group of people again. (Safety in numbers.) He also bought me dinner (at 1:30 a.m. in the morning.)
Sherri spent the night with me, and Saturday I stayed in my pajamas all day long. (Recovering from Friday night.) TEE HEE! I wasn’t sick of anything, just extremely tired. Saturday night (all by myself, and enjoying every minute of it), I watched three movies in a row. The first, a foreign movie entitled The Shop on Main Street, then I watched Lawrence of Arabia which is four hours long, then at 2:30 a.m., I watched Gentleman’s Agreement. All were quite good. The last two are previous Academy Award movies. I enjoyed Gentleman’s Agreement the most. Of course, I love Gregory Peck. Oom Gow Ah! (2021 comment - funny, I’ve told people for years I have never made it thru Lawrence of Arabia… - guess I did at one time… but sure don’t remember it - besides, it won OVER To Kill a Mockingbird which is just an amazing script, play, acting, EVERYTHING - the BEST!)
Sunday morning, Keith woke me up wanting to go car looking. (Since his wreck, he need a car pretty soon.) We were looking mainly at Mazdas and Datsuns. I like the Mazda RX7’s. Then we lunch at Red Lobster and I got popcorn shrimp, which I thoroughly enjoyed. After lunch, we went and looked at the apartments Keith is thinking on moving into. They were real nice. Then we went to University Park and Lakeside and walked around. This was all so nice. Keith and I haven’t had a carefree time like that in a long time. Sunday was different. I loved it. We ended the day by getting ice cream at Swenson’s. A terrific weekend, I’d say!!!
