MARCH 1988 -

Darren has moved to Austin. It was all a bizarre situation. He was calling me for a few days, then after the ice storm in January, LouAnn called and said he had quit work. Shortly after, I found out that he moved back to Austin where his family is. People tend to want to go back to their families, don’t they? I haven't seen or heard from him since. Oh well!!
(2022 comment - apparently, no real big loss here.. I do still wear those diamond stud earrings tho - LOL - as I also wore my freshwater pearls, til they broke (from John) and some earrings Barry gave me.. Uh - I mean, good jewelry is good jewelry, right?)
Randall has been around quite a bit since January 8, and around about every other day since February 29. I took him out for Leap Day (Sadie Hawkins.) It was a blast!! We went out to see Good Morning America, then we went to Border Cantina for margaritas. You know, he was really impressed with all of that. It was fun because I drove and opened all the doors for him. I insisted and wouldn’t let him touch the handle on the inside of the car before I jumped out and opened the car door.
Saturday, a week ago, he told me that he loved me. Look out! It was one of those things where I loved it, but it scared me to death! You know… twice burned, twice shy. Or is it three times? Also Randall’s track record hasn’t been the best. But this is the first time he’s ever acted so serious. Who knows?

Jim (the guy I met in London) wrote me a letter and wants to come see me April 1. I had about decided to say no that it wasn’t a good time for me since I had just been on vacation. He said he’d call when he thought I’d received the letter, but I hadn't heard from him yet. It was THAT night that Randall told me he loved me. I told him about the letter. (I just have to keep him in line.) I know I’m awful.
The more I think about it , the more I want to get another job. I talked to a girl the other night who is making $2,000 a month doing word processing. You don’t know what that does to me.
(2022 comment - I was at a salary freeze of $1,200 - maybe even $1,100.. No raise for two years)
Well I wanna run this off and mail it before the price of the stamp goes up to 25 cents.
Louis has still been around a lot lately too. Life, as always, is eventful. I start a class in Parapsychology next week.
MARCH 1988
GREAT NEWS! Randall bought his own home! No more excuses for not staying over (because he had to go home.. His parents.) He bought a cute house in Rowlett.
I was his first “guest” in his house and we attempted (or did?) to christen each room in his new house with a kiss or two. HA! It was fun!
We watched Buloxi Blues on cable with Matthew Broderick. Very cute!
At one point, Randall grabbed me, pulled me on his couch and said “Well… I have the job, the house… now all I need is the wife!” I just giggled - not knowing, as always, what he really meant by that??!
(2022 Comment - If you don't know by now, I wanted someone who was serious... I would make remarks that I didn't care, I'll just live alone and have flings here and there.. but that truly wasn't who I was. I had had real love a couple of times and that's what I really felt I deserved.. - Have to admit always wondered if he truly pursued me - a real relationship like Barry and John, what would've happened? AH! the fate of the world was about to make a turn.)
It was time to take a look at..
