Monday
The past week has been extremely busy, tiring and it’s a week i would not ever want to repeat.
First of all, Tuesday thru Thursday of last week I was on jury duty. It was a case of aggravated robbery, and the guy was cut and dry guilty. The whole ordeal was very emotionally draining for me. (2021 comment - I remember - LATER, we were told by the judge that his accomplice -who was a woman, btw - confessed that both this man and she set this woman up, robbed her and he attempted to rape her. - it was horrible for me)
(Nana on left - my dad's mom and Aunt Gladys on right - my dad's Aunt)

On Friday, I had to attend Aunt Gladys’s funeral. She died Wednesday morning while cooking breakfast. Not having Aunt Gladys at Christmas will be sad and strange. There will definitely be a hole. I can say two things. I am so glad Barry got to meet her. (It was last Christmas) and the last time I talked to her on the phone we talked for about 30 minutes (which is rather unusual.) I am so glad for these two things.
(2021 comment - Oh my! Wished I had known her more as an adult. She was one of the first female principals in Texas - much less Dallas area, she traveled the world, she hitchhiked to Cal to be in movies, she laughed all the time, and most of all, was notorious for her awful gifts. LOL - she once gave me a Swinger camera and I was sooooooo excited only to find out they hadn’t made film for that in ten years! Also got her boys/nephews’ sizes confused and often gave Dad gifts/clothes, even underwear that should go to Uncle Allison the 400 lb. Boren brother. We truly laughed for years!)

Saturday, I spent the day cleaning the apartment and that night, Sherri, Kevin, Barry, Kathleen, Shane, Johnnie and Tim came over and we visited until about 2:00 a.m. That was fun.

Sunday, Mom called about 9:00 a.m. and later Barry and I went to the house and about 2:00 p.m. we went to Aunt Gladys’ house to help clear away stuff. Sometime that day, I agreed to take one of Aunt Gladys’ dogs, Coco. She’s a poodle. She’s 12 years old, gray, and going deaf, but supposedly a very good dog and sweet. They say she’s whining for Aunt Gladys. Coco is at Aunt JoAnn and Uncle Lee’s right now. I’m going over there after work to pick her up. I hope I can take proper care of her.

Thursday
Coco is doing just fine. I’m very glad I took her in. She’s a well-mannered dog. I was given $700 (from Aunt Gladys) to take care of her and me for a while. I put $300 in checking and $400 in savings. (We’ll see how long it lasts.) I have to spend $200 right awa to pay for the pet deposit. I don’t know if I’ll get that back or not. I can say one things, if something happens to Coco I’ll get another dog right away so I’ll still have my deposit. (I’m not going to pay $200 for nothing.) Coco is 12 years old though, she should be around for at least 3-5 years. You really never know with dogs.

I’m getting the itch to go to Six Flags. I’ve only mentioned it to Barry, DeeAnn and Brian. I would really like the four of us to go together. That would be fun. I told DeeAnn that it would be nice for the two of us to go to Six Flags with guys we both like. We’ve had a bad history of going to Six Flags with at least one jerk. One time the jerk was Cam (whom I was with) and the other time the jerk was Scott Fundling - whom I was with. Oh well! It will be fun for the four of us. I would kind of like to go June 24th (the weekend after Father’s Day and Evita.) I hope they all go for that idea.
I also want to go to White Water soon. I went a lot last year because I had a pass, but this year I probably will only go once or twice. I’d like to go once in the day and once at night.
Tomorrow is Barry’s and my 8th month anniversary. I think we might see The Natural with Robert Redford and Robert Duvall. It’s supposed to be really good. Other movies I want to see this summer are:
1) Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom
2) Star Trek III (Search for Spock)
3) Gremlins
4) Ghostbusters
And a few others I can’t think of right now.

I didn’t see Barry last night because I went to Mom and Dad’s and he went with Randall to Randall’s grandparents and looked at the house his parents are building. Barry said it’s going to be beautiful. I miss him!
Tonight we’ll probably do a little grocery shopping, watch a movie and watch Knot’s Landing.

Friday

TGIF!! It’s Friday at 3:50 p.m. Only about one more hour to go until time to go home, take Coco on a walk and see The Natural. I don’t know, I may decide to go see the movie tomorrow night instead of tonight. It depends on what’s on cable t.v. I sort of would like to go swimming tonight.

Wednesday
Today is Nana’s birthday. She is 88 years old.
I am starting a two week diet for quick weight loss. (I want to lose 5-10 lbs.) I feel I have to lose 5 lbs. Today, the first day, is all liquids. Nothing at all but liquids. I’ve had three cups of coffee (no cream), diet Root Beer, clear vegetable broth (no vegetables), one thing of skim milk and lots of water.
I went over to Therese’s last night for dinner and to visit with the kiddoes. They were precious as always. We played Red Light, Green Light, Mother May I and Simon Says. Laura, in particular, was cute last night.

Saturday is Margaret’s birthday. She’ll be five years old. We’re going to ShowBiz Pizza to celebrate. That ought to be fun. I’m waiting for a call from B.C. to make sure I can go. I hope I can. Therese and Margaret want me to be there.
Tomorrow night I’m going to see Ghostbusters with Barry, Sherri, Kevin, DeeAnn and Brian. That’ll be fun. Saturday night I am spending the night with Barry for Father’s Day. Sunday is Father’s Day and Sunday night Mom, Dad, Barry andI are going out to eat and then to see Evita again. I absolutely can’t wait!
