FEBRUARY 2, 1984

Thursday

Tonight Barry is taking me to see Sammy Davis Jr. at Granny’s Dinner Playhouse for my final birthday celebration. That ought to be fun. It’s 4:20, and I’m getting itchy to leave.

Friday

Well, Sammy Davis Jr. was just excellent! I was very much pleased and entertained. My favorites were, of course “Mr. Bojangles,” “For Once in my Life,” and a medley of “Hey There” and “This is My Beloved.” When he sang “And This is my Beloved,” I got a chill up my spine and a tear dropped down my cheek. Not only because he sang it so well, but the words to the song are so beautiful. I really loved it. It was a wonderful birthday present.

Monday

I’ve had two wonderful weekends in a row. The first was Barry, Mom, Dad, Mary, John, Holly and the one on the way went to the cabin. It was a beautiful, relaxing, fun filled weekend. I love Barry so much! Dad made the comment this weekend that Barry has got to be one of the warmest people he’s ever met. Barry thinks Dad is one of the neatest persons he’s ever met. I love that. I always said that whomever I marry, has GOT to get along with my daddy; and my Barry does!

Valentine’s Day

Barry sent me 6 red roses for Valentine’s Day. I am the envy of everyone at work. Tonight he’s taking me out to dinner somewhere, but I don’t know where. All I know is he’s wearing a suit and I’m wearing a dress. He’s really milking the surprise for what it’s worth, because I’m actually baffled as to where or what he has planned.

Thursday

Well, Barry gave me the best Valentine’s Day of my life! He took me to the Railhead Steak House and I had filet mignon, baked potato, sauteed mushrooms, rose’ wine and for dessert, chocolate mousse. It was all delicious. From there we went to Reunion Tower. Then we went back to my apartment and slow danced. That was nice. On top of the six red roses, he gave me a handmade, painted heart shaped, porcelain box. It has little hearts in the big heart with things written on it like “Be Mine,” Yours Always, Barry, Janie and in the middle of the heart it says “I Love You.”

What a nice Valentine's Day, huh? Certainly better than last year; or any other year for that matter.

FEBRUARY 29, 1984

Wednesday

I thought I should write quite a bit today since there won’t be another 29th of February for four more years. Life has been great lately. I have never been happier in my entire life. The number one person to make me feel this way is Barry Johnson. God! Do I love him! He’s my sweetie pie.

This past Saturday I got a brand new couch and chair for my apartment. They’re beautiful! Dad gave me his video cassette recorder. Wow! I got some Homeowner’s Insurance yesterday. I figured it’s time since I now own a couch, two chairs, a bed, book shelf, coffee table, t.v., video cassette recorder, curio shelf, antique record player and radio console, and plenty of other things. I also made up a list of all my jewelry so if something happened to any of it, I’ll be able to buy some more like it. Of course, the sentimental value on any of my items is priceless… I mean, where am I going to get another player, radio console that my parents go when they were first married? (1951) - Or a pearl wishbone necklace from Japan, or a black onyx ring from Honduras, an amethyst ring from Brazil, or even a garnet ring that I have had since about 5th or 6th grade. Probably the only items I possess that I could recapture with my insurance is my stereo, furniture, clothes (except my Hounduras shirt), and t.v. Everything else is priceless.

I LOVE BARRY!

YES I DO!

HE’S A SWEETIE!

I DO BELIEVE I MAY BE IN LOVE WITH HIM!

I THINK ABOUT HIM ALL THE TIME!

I FIND MYSELF IN A BAD MOOD IF I DON’T SEE HIM!

MY PARENTS AND WHOLE FAMILY LOVE HIM!

HIS PARENTS AND WHOLE FAMILY LOVE ME!

I remember us walking all around White Rock Lake and singing Beatles songs just as loud as we could!!
