February 16, 1981 Monday

Hello! I don’t exactly know what I want to say. I saw Kevin A. today. I actually sat down and talked politely to him. He was talking to Kevin Q, so I had to speak. I’m glad we can joke around now (kind of). (2021 comment - the guy has issues… saw him again planning & attending our 40th reunion and he was acting like we broke up yesterday and just rude… that’s all I have to say about that. “Too Many Notes!”) #MeToo

Kevin Q & I went to Whittle’s Music Store today. I had to get 4 pieces of vocal music and 1 rhythm book for Piano. They were out of everything. I only ended up with 1 vocal book. Afterwards, Kevin and I went to Schlotzky’s for lunch.

About Carl. I don’t fully understand him. All I know is He doesn’t understand how I feel about overdoing romanticism. He thinks I’m rather paranoid. Maybe I am a little bit, but that’s what has kept me a good girl all this time. After all, I made that serious New Year’s Resolution about shaping up. I’m determined not to break it. PROBLEMS!

He is still been good about not trying anything, but I can tell he’s forcing himself to be good. Gotta go!

February 19, 1981 Thursday

Today in Choir, Cam, Sherri & Mark (sweet guy in Choir) went to Red Coleman’s to buy some liquor for the Choir party tomorrow night. It’s gonna be a blast. Mark is also a movie buff. He even knows who Maria Ospenskia (sp?) is. I couldn’t believe that. He’s just a kid though, right out of high school.

I hope Sherri can go to the party tomorrow night. Problem is, she doesn’t get off until 9:30 p.m. & has to be home by 12:00 a.m.

I miss Carl already. I’ll get to see him Saturday nite though. I think we’re double dating with Mike & Vera. I hope Mom & Dad go to the cabin. (2021 comment - If I didn’t say it before, Mike Clark and Vera Lyons started dating Jan. 81 - poss. First date wa Magic Time Machine. They are now married with 3 grown boys and grandchildren.. SG meets NG!!)

Tonite Mom, Dad & I went to B.C. & Therese’s. We had a great time. Bryant teased me all nite as usual & I loved it. I love him so much! And boy, do I love that wife of his, not to mention the kids.

Big day tomorrow!

I put $50 down on my Carribean tour. (2021 - Richland Choir had been asked to entertain on a Carribean Cruise. You will hear about it in April!!)

February 20, 1981 Friday

Tonite I went to the Choir party with Cam & Mark Hall. Right now, I’m still a little whoozy. I had a lot to drink tonite. Mark sure is a sweetie. I wish he wasn’t so young though.

Carl called today & canceled our date for tomorrow nite. He has some friends who have come in town and he has to entertain them. (why couldn’t I come along?) -- well, Mark wants to take me out tomorrow nite. I just may go out with him.

Right now, I’m sleepy!

February 22, 1981

This has been a fun weekend. First the party Friday nite. Then Mom & Dad went to the cabin Saturday. Mark Hall and I went to see The Devil & Max Devlin & then to Pizza Inn. Luckily, he didn’t try to kiss me goodnite coz I just like him as a friend. He’s so young. (and I just have to say it - I adore Carl)

Later, about 1:15 a.m., Carl came over. When he came in, my heart was pounding so much I couldn’t stand it. I just wanted to grab him and never let go. And I practically did. He stayed until 11:30 a.m. this morning. I am so crazy about him I can’t see straight!

I talked to Dee Ann today. She wants Carl & I to come to San Marcos the 6th, 7th & 8th of March. I’d love it! I’m definitely going, but I want Carl to go too.

Gotta go!!

Even though I enjoyed Mark’s company, I won’t go out with him again.

(2021 - LOL - we went out in some way or another off & on for 7 yrs) - but always ALWAYS friends - still are!!)

February 24, 1981 Tuesday

Fun day. Greg (my boss at GARC) installed my radio for me today. It took around 3 hours. It sounds wonderful. For supper, we went to El Chico’s. We had a great time. (2021 comment would I really have installed a new radio in that old Buick LeSabre?)

For some silly reason, I feel guilty for just going places with guy friends. I need to talk it out with Carl sometimes.

I bet I called Greg “Carl” more than 10 times tonite.

I miss him already. (since Sunday)

Mike & Vera are seeing other quite. I love Mike (but it’s still not too good for her to date so steadily after Scott). Besides, Mike & Scott are close friends. (2021 - who am I to talk - LOL)

February 27, 1981 Friday

Today was a fantabulous day. After Choir, Sherri, Cam, Sheila, Shawn Rutter (who by the way is pregnant), Glenn Knickerbocker, Ricky? And I went to Pizza Inn for lunch. It was a blast.

Tonite wonderful, lovely Carl came over and we watched The Wizard of Oz. I asked him if he wanted to go to San Marcos with me and he said yes. We’re going Thursday nite to Austin (staying with friends) & then Friday we’re going to San Marcos to see DEE ANN! Who by the way, happened to read our minds and called tonite. Oh, I love her! She’s so excited about us coming. Mom & Dad said it was fine (big surprise). They like Carl though. They have taste.

Mark wants me to go out tomorrow nite, but I really don’t want to. I think I’m just gonna tell him flat about Carl and I.

OOOOH! I tell you Carl is a sweetie! Sometimes I wonder if he really likes me, and then he’ll do something like give me a big bear hug or take me in his arms and smack me on the head :) :) :) **- actually have 3 hearts here) He’s always kissing my hands and also my forehead. I love it. We’ve been dating exactly 2 months tomorrow. (We met each other 2 months yesterday). The 26th of Dec. was the 1st time we went out.

OH how I am fond of him.
