HAWAIIAN HONEYMOON
(10th Anniversary trip w/Keith) - May or June 1999
SAT - 2:30 p.m. - Walked around Waikiki trying to stay awake… Ate dinner at “Cheeseburger in Paradise” (not related to Jimmy Buffet)
SUNDAY - Had coffee on Lanai balcony. Woke up at 5:30 (sun woke us up). Keith woke up earlier than that & missed 1st pot of coffee. He was walking on beach. Free breakfast w/hotel & listened to tours & free trip to Maui Divers - then to Hilo Hattes to shop. Got chocolate covered macadamian nuts, dress (2020 - still have/wear it), hula skirt for Emily, etc.
That nite ate at Burger King & shopped around King’s Village.. Row?
MONDAY - Coffee on Lanai. Fed birds & pigeons. Sent kids postcards. Ed & Alene had sent us fruit (2 plates) sliced up for our anniversary. We ate a lot for breakfast. Went to Pearl Harbor - it was ghosty!! Came back & went swimming at beach. Went on catamaran dinner cruise. (Keith got sick) - REALLY!! Went down Japanese row & bought coral jewelry. - Daytime.
Tuesday - Coffee on Lanai. Fed the birds. Tour island. Rented car - Went to Halona Cove where they made hot scene in “From Here to Eternity” w/Deborah Kerr and Burt Lancaster - next to famous Blow Hole. The cove was my favorite.
Felt ill on rest of ride but liked Chinaman’s Hat location, Waimea Adventure Park. (where much of Jurassic Park was filmed)..
That nite we went to Harbour View Chinese food & had delicious meal. Broccoli Shrimp, Cashew Chicken. Harbor View - Beautiful.
We walked around interesting shops & had fun. We rode back on trolley. It was chilly...misty rain, cooler temperatures, etc. but we enjoyed it. Hawaiian oldies were playing. Keith and I felt close. We got back, had free Pina Coladas in bed & watched You’ve Got Mail on Pay Per View. Good day!!
WEDNESDAY - Flea Market. Aloha Stadium. Good bargains. It was hot and fun. Swim in Waikiki - Keith tried to make sand castle. Older couple gave us free rafts. That nite we went to Germaine’s Luau. Keith liked the tahitian dancers. Both cruise and luau had really good tour guides. They call all people “cousins,” HANG LOOSE
Thursday - Had coffee on Lanai - DIAMOND HEAD!! We climbed it!! It took approx. 90 minutes. A lot of steps. 75 steps, 99 steps & a dark spiral staircase. Went to Haunema Bay but too crowded & expensive. Slept/napped there. Came back, took a nap.
That nite, we ate at Waikiki Steak & Lobster, I had teriyaki steak & lobster. Yummy! Went back to Japanese alley and bought Andrew’s shark. Came back & watched Patch Adams. Earlier we found pastry shop & took cheesecake & apple tort back to hotel & then watched Patch Adams. Earlier than that (after naps) we went to Pali Point. Lush, green foliage - most resembling Colorado mountains. We were dressed for dinner & I was in a dress. I tell you coz the weather was quite chilly & the wind blew up my dress. I said it’s beautiful now let’s get out of here. Ha - Then we went to dinner.
FRIDAY - Had coffee on the lanai & illegally fed the birds. Craft show in lobby. Ate breakfast at Minute Chef & took pictures of Sheraton Waikiki. Took one hour of hula lessons - I liked it. Packed up the car, gave rafts away (as they were given to us), ate at Jack In the Box, came back and went back to Hilo Hattie’s for a few more souvenirs. Then we went back to Pali Point & this time we walked around quite a bit. Really pretty! Finally we returned to our car and headed for the airport.
