August 11, 1980 (Monday)

Well, tonite Jim & Scott called. I have a date with Scott Friday, & a date with Jim Saturday. I knew they’d call. I need them right now.

Tomorrow I have to get up early & get the car tuned up. (2020 comment - I was driving Alex’s old car - we (my friends and me) referred to it as the Green Bomb - we could hit anything and no one would know. It was a Green 2 door Buick LeSabre). It did NOT look this good!

My throat has been real sore since Saturday nite.

I’m gonna write Tracy a letter. A quick note asking him to tell Jeff that he has my five dollars. Maybe he’ll get a bit jealous.

I LOVE HIM!!

I went to Dee Ann’s & Margaret Hoye was there. She’s a doll. We all had a good talk.

August 15, 1980 (Friday)

I had a great time tonite with Scott. First, we went to G.A.R.C. staff party. It didn’t last very long, so we left. We didn’t know what to do, so Scott suggested to buy a bottle of wine and go to White Rock Lake. We were out there for about 3 ½ hours. I’m getting pretty interested in him. But he’s going off to college in a week. (so is Dee Ann). Tim’s coming up for Dean & Allyson’s wedding, so Tim, Dee Ann, Scott and I are going to Six Flags the 21st. I’m gonna call in sick.

Monday I register for school/college.

August 16, 1980 (Saturday)

Not a whole lot happened today. I did see “Mary Poppins” tonite with Mom & Dad & loved it. I never realized how great it really was until tonite.

Dee Ann is probably in Tim’s arms right now. I can’t wait until he comes down & Scott, he, Dee Ann & I all go to Six Flags. It’ll be a blast.

I kind of wish Scott wasn’t going so far to college. I’m just now beginning to like him for more than a friend. Last nite was superb!

I haven’t seen Scott Munoz in ages. I talked to Kathleen today & Kevin. I miss Scott. I do get awfully mad at him sometimes, but he is still a dear friend.

I still deeply love Tracy, but I’m glad I have Scott F. around, coz he’s not bad at all! If he wasn’t moving away, I could probably get serious about him. (Maybe it’s just as well).

August 17, 1980 (Sunday)

I went to church today. At St. Paul’s Methodist (where I work). I really liked it a lot. I’m thinking about joining.

Mary & John came over tonite for home-made hamburgers. We saw “Going in Style” on cable t.v. It was good with George Burns, Lee Strasberg & Art Carney.

Scott F. came over & we watched Monty Python together. I’m really liking his company a lot these days. Too bad he’s going off. But, we’ll have fun at Six Flags.

Scott M. called today. He & Vera are planning to tell her parents about their engagement this week. Good luck to them!!! They’re planning on get married Dec. 20, 1980. I hope it all works out.

Pres. Carter was elected for Democratic Vote against Ted Kennedy. I’m glad. Even though I’m voting for Reagan, I like Carter better than Kennedy! This will be my first pres. Election. I hope Reagan/Bush wins.

August 18, 1980 (Monday)

Tonite Dee Ann & I went shopping. I bought 2 dresses & a pair of shoes.

1) Pink Dress with rippled bodice (shirt dress) - very feminine

2) Gray-suede dress. Cap sleeves button all the way down front. Maroon belt (suede)

3) Maroon opera pumps to match my gray dress. I love them all!

Today I registered, feeling fine. I went to work (in a dress) & felt good. Only to find I may not work there anymore. It has to do with my school schedule. I worked it out where I go to school in the morning & work in the afternoon. Everything’s fine except they need me to work from 9-11 a.m. on Fridays for clean-up. I have a class at that time. Instead of letting me do my share of work later in the day, they’re probably gonna discharge me. I got so upset when Pam told me, that I cried. She said she would see what she could do. I mean I don’t blame her in a way, coz she’s afraid she’ll end up doing the cleaning by herself. But I’m soo good with those kids, & I love them so much. I’d look at them today (especially when Christopher Vandebur hugged me) & bawl all over again.

OH WELL!

I don’t always get what I want.

I hope for the best!

I have a date with Jim tomorrow nite to see “The Blue Lagoon.”

I WANT MY KIDS!!!
