May 8, 1987

I went to the Showboater concert with Randall? - and Cathy Flynt was in it. She and I had started getting to know each other in Choir (she's Bill's daughter.) She is a senior at ole SGHS and sang the song Rockin' to the Rhythm of the Rain. Very good!

JUNE 1, 1987

Monday

I haven’t written in such a long time, I realize. Well, the most newsworthy event is that I went to Acapulco the week before last.

First of all, the Saturday before I left for Acapulco, I went over to Randall’s (his parents were out of town) and we had a great day. We became very close and I asked him to make love to me. But we didn’t. It was a wonderful day and I felt very loved.

(2022 comment - the last entry was mainly pictures of my Acapulco trip. This tells more detail of each day of the great adventure.)

I left for Acapulco the next Wednesday with Elaine Vavra, a good friend at work, her two sisters, Ann and Kathy and Bamma, Kathy’s roommate. Ann, Elaine and I were roommates and Bamma and Kathy were roommates. We had a wonderful time there. I honestly can’t tell you if I had a better time here or on the cruise. I met different guys and had as much fun in every way. I’ll try to write in order of what happened.

WEDNESDAY - We flew into Acapulco. From the airport to the hotel, we rode a bus that nearly blew us away. It was crazy, I couldn’t even open my eyes because the wind was blowing so hard through the windows. I was hanging on for dear life to my earrings. But it started the trip with a big laugh.

That night we went to the Embarcadero to eat. This is a place Elaine has frequented when visiting Acapulco in the past (this was her third time to go.) We liked this place because not only was the food good but the waiters were cute and friendly. We liked their flirts. Our waiter was named Jorge’ and he saw me the next day out sunning and hung out with us for a while. He barely spoke English but said “You be a tomato if you stay out.” So funny! I went around telling everyone my name was Juanita and I knew Spanish - Enchilada, Taco, etc. We laughed the whole time!

After dinner, we went dancing (every nite) at Baby O's and I danced on a table! yes, like a GoGo dancer!! There were boys from America (or so we thought) but they were Castillian and absolutely NO English - had sooo much fun! I felt SO FREE!!!

That nite we saw Acapulco divers (someone said practicing for the Olympics) - sooo cool! Then we went back to the Embarcadero where by now the waiters knew our names!!

One guy, in particular, Carlos was wonderful! (2021 comment - I remember him walking across the room and truly our eyes met and I thought MAN! He’s incredibly hot! - did we say hot back then?) In my ever-dramatic mind, it was like Tony and Maria seeing each other across the dance floor - AND everything stopped!

He had a brother named Ricardo and Elaine liked him! They were both incredibly great!

(Most Pictures posted in May 1987 journal entry - if you have not read)

**NEW** The Sunday night I got back from the trip, the phone rang. It was Carlos calling me!

"OH MY gosh! You called from Mexico!" “No.. I thought it would be cheaper if I called you from Dallas. He came to Dallas to bring his momma shopping and SEE ME! (He said he wanted his Madre to meet me.) :)

Kevin graduated from NTU (North Texas University) and had planned a big Graduation party at the Rotary club (he had made reservations months ago.) When he got there, another party was going on. They double booked!! He was beside himself - so I told him, "Mom and Dad are at the cabin - we can have it at their house." Carlos had the fun opportunity be at a real American party. Kevin Q put a note on the VFW door and told everyone to gather at 605 W. Vista! (the home of all the parties!!)

Randall was there and the dynamic was icy to say the least. But I was glad Carlos was there. He was sooo attentive! I did wonder what Randall thought and if he was jealous at ALL. He is sooo hard to read.

Carlos was a hit at “Kevin’s” grad party and I remember Sherri saying “Muy Caliente” to him. OH MY - He later told me that I was very different than the women he’s met, especially in the U.S. Oh Me and my good reputation! HA!

The part was so much fun and people were crawling in and out of the woodwork. Some friends of Kevin's that I hadn't met (or maybe just once or so) came - not just our Richland crowd.

(Bryan Baker - this PROBABLY was when you came to my parents' house and started hanging out with us here and there after... maybe?)

OH MAN!

Carlos had been spending two or three days running around Dallas and hanging out with my friends and me at night (after I worked.) I know we met Brian and DeeAnn at On the Border for brunch.

I also remember taking him to Snuffer’s on Greenville Ave.

(2022 comment - At one time, I had several letters he wrote me. He always complimented me and my good, moral values. Sigh! He also bought me a Mexican doll that I kept up until Emily was in 5th/6th grade... then threw it all away - now I wish I hadn't. Ah well!)

Supposedly the worst movie EVER made -but I remember Sherri and I thought it had many funny parts.. Beaty was probably a bad choice, for sure - ha - Oh well! We had fun!!
