January 7, 1981 Wednesday

Tonite Dee Ann & I went to see The Aristocats. I love that movie.

Yesterday I spent the nite with her. We stayed up to 4:30 a.m. Just blabbing away. Talking mainly about guys and love.

Yesterday Mary turned 28. She’s coming over tomorrow.

-- Cam bought me a beautiful cardigan sweater for Xmas. It’s an expensive one, I can tell. It’s blue with darker blue inlay. (crocheted)

January 8, 1981 Thursday

You won’t believe who called tonite? Kevin. He asked out for tomorrow nite. I gave in and said yes. We’re going to see Stir Crazy.

I’m scared! I really enjoy dating other people. Part of me wants him back (my heart). And the other part knows it’d never work. (the brain).

He’d have to change in a lot of ways.

January 11, 1981 Sunday

I had to write about my weekend. I had a great one. First, Friday nite I spent the nite with DeeAnn.

Later that nite, Kevin called & said he wouldn’t be able to go out coz he had some buddies he wanted to see. So I called Scott, Sandra (who’s Sandra?), Mike, Kenneth & Carl to all go see It Came From Outer Space in 3-D. Right before Mike came to pick me up, Kevin called back and said that he didn’t like what his friends were gonna do, so he still wanted to go out. I told him about all the plans and he met us at the movie. (I was perturbed at him).

Anyway, after we all got there, I began talking to Carl (Ken’s cousin - Kenneth Trent) a lot. (We had double dated about 2 weeks ago to see 9 to 5. He’s a film major. He’s so interesting and has a sharp sense of humor. He loves musicals, love stories (all good movies). Carl was crazy about A Little Romance. He thinks Deborah Kerr, Audrey Hepburn and Greer Garson are all beautiful. (I like his taste).

Today Carl, Kenneth, Tammy & I went to Carl’s to watch the Cowboy/Philadelphia game. He made mexican food for lunch. I had a blast!

What I like best, is that I have been close to him 3 times now, and he’s never touched me. (It’s about to drive me insane though). Yet I know he’s interested in me. In fact, tomorrow nite we’re going to see Citizen Kane. And he wants me to go to Scott & Ken’s going away party Saturday nite. (That sounds like he’s interested to me). Carl’s older than my friends. I believe he’s about 22 or 23. (I’m not quite sure how old).

(2020 memory - I first met Carl S. at Mike Clark's party. He was (what I thought) an older guy with a beard. Never had I ever dated a real man with facial hair! - lol - I just remember him watching me dance all nite long... Don't remember if we ever danced, but I DO remember him watching me. I wore a kaki plaid & cream top with kaki pants. OH! I loved to dance!)

I also remember Kevin A showing up (we had long since broken up - was this a New Year's party? don't know.... and he was jealous and furious at me (prob drunk)... He broke a glass or two...)

January 12, 1981 Monday

McClendon House

I’ve got some neat news. You won’t believe what’s on the cover of Dallas Morning News? Mine & Tracy’s house. Remember the house that in January of 1978 Mark, Tracy and I found? Well they’ve finally finished it and it made the Dallas paper. On it’s it. I’m dying to write Tracy. We went there several times afterwards to just look at it. One time we parked off in the distance just to stare at its beauty. The paper calls it “The McClendon House.” It was built in 1877. (Over 100 years old). I had no idea it was that old. I love it. I’ve always said this house would be mine someday. Restorers may call it “McClendon House” but I call it “MY Dream House.” I’ve got to go see it again. It’s a must!

I got so misty when I saw the picture. Boy, do I realize how much I still love him.
