New Era - New World

January 20, 1981 Tuesday

This has been a packed full day. For me & especially for U.S.

Today Ronald Reagan was inaugurated in office. But not only was this a spectacular event, but the hostages were released from Iran. They first were flown to Algiers and then on the Frankfurt, Germany. From there they will be flown straight to U.S. America. It’s been good news all around.

I’m so glad Reagan received President. We needed him right now. Apparently, the Iranians were frightened of him coz they freed the hostages about the same time Reagan was inaugurated. Since he is my 1st president I voted for, I hope he does an exceptional job. We need a good, strong leader.

Today I had to skip work. Sherri & I went into Dallas to get our dance supplies. I got a wine colored leotard, pink tights, and pink ballet shoes & tap shoes. It took until 5:00 to get it all done. We had fun though.

January 22, 1981 Thursday

I had a good day today. Nothing special happened,, yet I enjoyed it.

I’m coming down with a cold, but I’m in good spirits.

Tomorrow nite, Carl & I are going to see a double feature at Richland. Girlfriends and The Turning Point.

Only 6 more days until my 20th Birthday!

I saw Cheryl today. Oh, I love her! She’s so cute. She’s dying to marry Guy. he got her a diamond ring for Christmas, but it’s a star-like ring (not engagement). She wanted an engagement ring.

I’ve gotten a lot of people together to see Gone with the Wind the 30th for my birthday. It’ll be a blast!

I saw Kevin A yesterday at school. I got off the elevator & there he was. He was acting real strange. He told me he just spent the weekend in San Marcos (Southwest). He said he saw Dee Ann & spent the whole weekend with her. I laughed at him and said good. I walked away. He is so stupid & immature - it makes me sick.

I really can’t believe I once thought he was a sweet, open, kind person. He’s one of the most mixed up persons I’ve met. I judged him totally wrong. (that’s unusual)

January 23, 1981 Friday

I had a fantastic time tonite with Carl. We saw a double feature at Richland. Girlfriends (awful) and The Turning Point (excellent). Then we went to Chilli’s (where he worked). We talked a lot of things. I’m falling for him fast.

He gave me a card tonite that says “This card entitles you to one birthday present.” It’s made up like a Chance card in Monopoly (which is a game we played at his house, the day he made mexican food). That’s one of the sweetest things a guy has every done for me. So thoughtful & inventive.

Best of all, he sure makes me laugh.

He wants me to go to Henderson with him (his Aunt lives there) to go horseback riding. (It’s too soon for plans like that).

Carl confessed to me that he’s never really had a steady girlfriend. That shocked me. He’s dated a lot, but no one steady. That complicates things. Gotta go!

January 24, 1981 Saturday

I didn’t do anything in particular tonite. But guess who called? Dee Ann. Kevin did definitely see her this past weekend. In fact, he managed to kiss her before it was all over. I told Dee to watch out for him, I think he’s crazy. Literally. I don’t have too much emotion left for him. If he saw her just to make me jealous, that just adds to the lowness of his character. If he was really interested in her, then I hope she knows better than to become attached. He’s a stinker. I said once before that Russ was 1st biggy then Tracy. I figured Kevin A was 3rd in line, well that’s changed. There’s not much of him I want to remember. Carl’s more apt to be 3rd in line. I’m not so sure who comes first. Russell or Tracy, but Kevin is definitely not in the race. Oh well!!

January 25, 1981 Sunday

Tonite I went over the Carl’s house and met his mom. She’s cute, I like her. We had a good time.

We watched Shenandoah and Murder on the Orient Express. Both were good.

I’m liking Carl more & more. Mom thinks he’s cute (personality and all). He is. He’s so intelligent too. I can’t really prove it, but he just seems quite smart. He told me tonite that I kiss very well. I like that. He’s not so bad himself.

January 26, 1981 Monday

Kathleen called & wants to take me to Magic Time Machine instead of seeing GWTW. That’s better, except I’m gonna have to sweet talk Carl into it.

I miss him terribly. I know I just saw him last nite, but I Feel like its been a week. I can’t wait until Wednesday (my birthday). He’s taking me out.

Life’s been great lately. If I could just erase ever knowing Kevin A., I’d be in great shape. (Oh, I still am)

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ME!

January 28, 1981 Wednesday

Well, I’m big 20 today! I had a wonderful day. First, Dad & Mom gave me a pearl necklace. The whole was great including in Choir everyone sang HAPPY BIRTHDAY to me. Later, I went over to Therese’s & visited my darling Margaret & Bryant III.

But tonite was the best. Mom & Dad took Carl & I out to Steak & Ale. We had a blast. Mom and Dad talked with Carl more than any other guy I’ve dated at any time. That proves something. Carl brought me a single yellow rose. I love it. Boy, do I like him!

Oh, I hope we stay together for a while. A few things haunt me, & I regret to a certain degree ever getting involved with Kevin.

Carl’s good for me. God, he makes me laugh! I love people who make me laugh. He’s also courteous & polite. I really think Mom & Dad like him.

Gotta go!
