AUGUST 7, 1984

Tuesday

Since James Mason died, Fred Waring (of the Pennsyvanians) died last Friday, and Richard Burton died Sunday. That’s the three. It does seem like people die in threes. Even though more people were upset about Richard Burton dying, I was much more crushed about James Mason. (I always preferred him.) Richard Burton got all the hype from being married to Elizabeth Taylor.

We went to Magic Time Machine (MTM) for Barry's 24th Birthday party!!

Barry and I are getting down to brass tacks about marriage. He’s already said quite a bit to his parents and last night I asked my parents what they thought about me getting married in 1985. We have a lot of it planned, as far as when we get engaged, I’ll move back home and he’ll move out (to give him time on his own, and me time to save money.) The date of the wedding has not been mentioned, because it really has to do with when he proposes. I would rather prefer an Autumn wedding, but then that also depends on where we go for our honeymoon. (I don’t want to burn up in my wedding dress.)

AUGUST 8, 1984

Wednesday

This day is Barry’s and my 10th anniversary. Just two more months to go and it’ll be one whole year.

We’re going over to Barry’s tonight to say goodbye to his parents. Tomorrow night we’re going to my parents to say goodbye. Barry will pick me up at 1:00 p.m. Friday and we’re on our way to Oklahoma City or further. Main destination… St. Josef, Missouri to see Eric Burns, his best friend.

AUGUST 21, 1984

Tuesday

Well, briefly, a 19 year old boy ran into me August 9, 1984 while I was on my way from my mother’s house to my apartment to pack for my vacation. I was going the speed limit through a green light and he sped through a red light and commenced to make an accordion out of my car (he ran into my driver’s side full force) - my beautiful Regal with only 8-10 more payments. The glass from the windows cut my left side of my face (I had to have a small amount of plastic surgery done) and my ring finger on my right hand was broken.

It was a beautiful car... $257.88 were the payments - first car in my name. Sigh!

My whole life changed after this - I vowed to go back to church, took voice lessons again (got into Music... ALL very good choices!) - AND... more changes AHEAD - all good? STAY TUNED!
