MONDAY
Last night I stayed at DeeAnn’s moms’ house and helped sew rice bags (actually birdseed roses). The whole week is going to be draining, busy but fun. Tonight Mom, Dad, Barry and I are going to Spaghetti Warehouse and then to the Majestic Theatre to see the Texas Boys Choir and the Vocal Majority in concert. This is all for Mom’s Mother Day present from Barry and me.
GOOD AND HOPEFUL NEWS!!! Barry was offered Plaza Hardware store today by Mr. Lloyd. (Barry’s boss and owner of store.) Of course, it’s no sure deal at all. Barry has to come up with the money by summer sometime to do it, but if he could just get a proper loan, maybe it would work out. This is the break he’s been waiting for a long time. I pray everything falls in place just like he wants it. He deserves the very best. Also, I have to selfishly admit, if this all takes place like he wants there’s a better chance of us getting married in 1985. The only thing holding our engagement back at this point is his job. (Or so he says.) I think we could make it the way we are. But I guess I can understand what he means about being a little more self-sufficient. Personally, though, I think we have what it takes to get married, and that’s a lot more important than money; love, respect, admiration and great senses of humor. Dear God, help him to make the right decisions and choices; and that when he does make them, everything will work out for the best. I am very excited for him. I do love him with all my heart!
(2021 comment - somewhere in here DeeAnn had a bachelorette party at LeBare - LOL - Never have I ever!! -- I learned to put a BILL in someone's jock strap or whatever - OH MY!)

Monday
Well, Miss Dee Ann Cody has married Mr. Brian Anthony Center. You know, it’s hard to believe that the girl who I acted totally immature, stupid and absolutely zany with is married and in Hawaii right now on her honeymoon! I am so terribly excited for her, I can’t stand it! It’s funny, I always thought I’d be the first to get married. I guess I was wrong, TEE HEE! She deserves the very best, and I do believe she has it. She couldn’t ask for a better guy than Brian. He’s perfect for her and she’s perfect for him. Hey! They’re perfect for each other! I feel silly this morning. Quite a bit tired.
Well, the wedding was beautiful! Even though we were terribly afraid it was going to rain, it managed to clear up and be beautiful in time for this spectacular event. In case I never mentioned before, it was a garden wedding in Duncanville and therefore, we were terribly afraid it was going to rain, but somewhere between strong love, faith and hope it cleared into a beautiful evening. The wedding took place at 6:00 p.m., which was a nice time. Because of the rain, a cool front had come through, so it was right about 78 degrees which was unusually nice for this time of year.
I made a beautiful maid-of-honor (TEE-HEE!) (or so I was told by a lot of people.) That made me feel good. Barry told me in his words “Not to take away from DeeAnn, because she was a beautiful bride, you my dear Janie, were the prettiest girl up there.” Isn’t that precious? I sure love my Barry. He rode to the wedding with Mom and Dad, but rode home with Kevin, Kathleen, Sherri, Nancy and me. We went to Dixie Lakewood to eat and then by that time it was nearly 11:00, so Sherri and Nancy went on home and Kevin and Barry came over to my apartment, and we stayed up and watched some silly movie called The Sex Machine, absolutely idiotic. We, needless to say, did not finish the movie.
I LOVE BARRY!
I think I AM GOING to Barry’s tonight. That is, if I’m not too terribly tired.

Randall graduated from college and got a good job. He will be starting at $1,700 a month at a computer tech plant (or something like that.)

Bryant and Therese are definitely getting a divorce. That’s all I care to say about that now.

Aunt Gladys died... She left me her dog Coco and $700
