MOVIE MADNESS IN MARCH

Except for my hoarse throat, I feel great today. I had a marvelous weekend. First of all, Friday night, Kevin and I saw a fantastic movie. Sophie’s Choice is one of the best movies I have seen in ages. I am SO upset that it was not nominated for Best Picture. I enjoyed it 10 times more than The Verdict. I have lost complete faith in the Academy. The only nominations it received at all were Best Actress-Meryl Streep, Cinematography, and Best Adaptation from original script (book.) Kevin Kline deserved a nomination for Best Actor (or S. Actor), for the part of Nathan, and so did Peter McNickel for the part of Stingo. I’ll have to see Ghandi, Joy says it’s wonderful. She said that she picks it for best picture, and second place Sophie’s Choice.

I came home after the movie, (about 1:30 a.m.) and turned on WRR radio which plays all classical music. I kept it on all night and woke up to the story of Mozart, and one of my favorite Mozart pieces. Oh, I felt so good.. I got dressed, ate some breakfast, then went over to my dearest friend’s house, Dee Ann. We had a good visit and mainly talked about Sophie’s Choice.

Later, Brian (Dee Ann’s current interest,) came over and we all visited. Dee Ann got our her travel logs for a cruise she’s hoping to take, and I reminisced about mine. There was a lot of information on the exact cruise that I took, (except this one was the same ship as on the “Love Boat,” I was going crazy and trying to tell her where to go. Sex couldn’t be any better than the feeling I had when I arrived in San Juan, or even better when the ship pulled away from the San Juan dock, with a full moon, and the tinny sound of the steel drum band playing “Brazil.” NOTHING could ever be as great! Okay, okay, I’ll stop.

I left about 4:00 p.m., and went home to take a nap and get ready for the evening. Dee Ann was in a production of The Pirates of Penzance which I enjoyed very much.
