No Turning Back - October 1980

October 4, 1980 (Saturday)

I just got home from seeing Barry Manilow in concert. He was fantastic! I enjoyed myself immensely. South Garland Choir was in it. (30 people from Acapella). They sang with him on “One Voice,” I write the songs & It’s a Miracle. Couldn’t you imagine signing with Barry Manilow? That would be wonderful. (2020 memory - I believe Kae Lyn Cody was in that Choir, surprised I didn’t write that) - also, I know I went with Cam Craig - but not sure who else - if anyone…?

Last nite after the S.G.-Lakeview game, I met a darling guy, Kevin Anderson. He, Scott, Mike Clark, Troy, Tina, Ricky Turner & Donna (?) went out. Kevin paid for everything for me. He’s a doll! He drove me home & asked if I would mind if he called sometime. I said sure. (He’s a friend of Mike’s). I really think he likes me. I like him.

School’s started and I love it. I have my job back. Pam moved, so Greg called and wanted me back on my conditions. The kids had missed me. I love them!

Therese’s expecting anyday. Mary’s due in about a month. I think Mary’s gonna have a boy - I don’t know about Therese. (I’d kinda like both to be boys).

Dee Ann & Tim keep breaking up & going back together again. Kae told me they’re sorta together again.

I’m tired.

Well, a lot has happened since I’ve written last. Since last time, I’ve been seeing Kevin steadily. We first went to the lake (where I lost my watch), to the fair (I had a fabulous time), to see the Big Sleep & to Chili’s, out to El Chico’s with his father & over to his house to watch “The Wiz” & “What’s Up Doc?” and he came over tonite to watch “Superman.” I like him a lot & I think he’s flipped over me. He told me tonite he’s planning on being around for a while.

Therese had her baby! What did I tell ya? It’s a boy! Bryant C. Boren III. He weighed 8 pounds & was 20 inches long. He was born October 9 at 3:11 p.m. He’s got black hair & dark skin. (I think he’ll have brown eyes). He doesn’t look like Margaret at all! It’s neat!

I called Dee Ann to tell her & we talked over an hour long distance. She and Tim are pretty much back together again. They sent me a gift. It’s a tee shirt with a koala bear on it. It’s cute.

I got little Bryant a teddy bear (it’s musical). Mary is still in the hospital. She’s so ready to have her baby, but Ole Jake (or Holly) doesn’t seem to want to come out.

It’ll be close to a month probably before he comes.
