Past Behind - Future Ahead! Dec. 1980

December 14, 1980 (Sunday)

Boy, have a lot of things changed. Kevin & I are no more. He’s furious at me. I’ll explain. Since the 15th, (our 3 hour talk) I began to think. I began to get upset about him not wanting to date steadily, yet he called me all the time without asking me to go anywhere. Anyway, Kathleen had a party last Saturday night the 6th) & I had invited Kevin. Meanwhile, I got to thinking about meeting new guys & didn’t want to take him, so I told him I was going to the cabin. (UH-OH) Well, I went on to the party thinking I had fooled him, when Kevin walked in at the party. (UH-OH). He had already called & asked Kathleen ifI was with a date (like it was his business) that infuriated me. So I flirted all night with Chris & Keith (2 nice guys up there without dates). I saw Kevin Friday morning pulling in at his work so I honked & waved. He definitely saw me & gave me a cold stare. He’s acting like a baby. I know I shouldn’t have lied, but I don’t owe him anything. He’s the one that called our relationship off. Oh well!

I went out with Scott Friday nite & Keith Saturday nite. Scott & I went to Balboa’s Cafe & dancing. Keith (guy I met at party) took me to Chelsea Street Pub & to see Popeye. It was cute.

I’m having a party this Friday & going to another Saturday. I also have a date with Mike Clark sometime this week.

Guess who called nite before last? Pat Hogan. I love him. He’s going to North Texas.

Gotta go!

Dee Ann’s coming in tomorrow nite.

I nearly fainted at a concert today.

(2020 comment - John Lennon died Dec. 8. We, the Acapella Choir were practicing in the auditorium and had heard there was going to be a 3 minute silent moment for his passing. We were singing full-force with Jim Henderson directing and then we just stopped. His hands were still in motion and he kept saying “Sing, why aren’t ya’ll singing?” We managed to stay quiet that entire 3 minutes - which seemed very long… Soooo sad…..

December 17, 1980 (Weds)

I went out with Mike Clark tonite. I had a lovely time. If he wasn’t such a good friend of mine, I could like him. We went to Don the Beachcombers and had polynesian pork, chicken & vegetables! It was good. Afterwards, we went to Balboa’s for hot apple cider with tuaca. YUMMY! I really had a wonderful time.

Guess who called tonite? Kevin. He’s coming to my party Friday nite. He was very kind. But even if he asks me out again, not steady. Never more!!!

December 23, 1980 (Tuesday)

Kevin call tonite. He thanked me for the Xmas card I sent him (even though he told me Saturday nite that he would never call me again.)

Apparently, there’s a lot to be told.

My party was a blast. We went Xmas caroling, told jokes & just visited. Kevin kissed me under the mistletoe (which made me mad), because the kiss was not warm. I hated it. He called Saturday morning but I was still asleep. Later, I went with Dee Ann to see Holly & forgot to call him. That night, he showed up at Peggy’s party (he doesn’t even know her) and sat like a bump on a log for about 45 minutes. When he began to leave, he asked me to step outside. (I had been dancing). He told me that he’s tired of calling me & he won’t ever do it again. That made me furious. He said if I want to talk to him I should call him. POOH! He’s acting so immature I can't see straight. The thing that makes me more ticked off than all is this: At my party, Kevin brought a good friend of his, Jim. I’ve heard of him a lot thru Kevin. Anyway, when they started to leave, Jim & I were talking & somehow it came up about Kevin & I just splitting up. Jim couldn’t believe it. He had never even heard of me before. Now if that doesn’t burn I don’t know what does. Jim is a real close friend of Kevin’s, & I dated Kevin for 2 ½ months.

You know, I don’t deserve that. I’m about ready to tell Kevin what I think of him. I’d like to talk to a guy about this, but it’s hard when I’m dating or have dated all my boy______friends.
