APRIL 10, 1987

Friday

I’m excited! It’s a beautiful day outside (a little windy; well, very windy, but beautiful and sunny!)

Tonight Randall is coming over and later, Barry and Sherri are coming - and we’re all going miniature golfing and riding around in Randall’s brand new red convertible! We’re probably going to ride all around Dallas in the neat little car and take a blanket to White Rock Lake and sit out and star gaze. I’ll like that!

I heard from Randall for the first time in a couple of weeks the other night. I had told myself that he had to call me. It took a little while, but I think he’s really missing me. He said so. He called and said “Hi stranger!” He can be so funny sometimes.

Well, a few minutes ago, Louis called me here at work. He said that we need to go to the GWTW museum tomorrow. I had about decided I wasn’t going to see it at all. This is the last weekend. He said something last Sunday about going, but again, I decided that he was to call me, I wasn’t going to call him. Well, he did! And he REALLY wants to go! This will be a fun and beautiful weekend.

You know, as long as there are guys around, I love being single. I just like having something to do most of the time, unless I get a steady guy and I just seem to want to cuddle.

April 4 - What I remember as Louis and my first date - We went to eat somewhere around Garland and came back to watch The Way we Were. I had told him I didn't care for it (when it first came out years ago.) Well, his wish came true. I changed my mind and boo-hooed thru the whole thing this time. Love that movie!!

I remember Louis wearing great, dark grey pleated pants with suspenders and a cool fedora. I thought he looked REALLY good!! And of course, told him!

Here is a copy of A&A's newsletter - they wrote a nice blip about me singing for Scottish Rite

Monday

I had a really good weekend! Very good, in fact!

FRIDAY - Randall took me, Sherri and Barry riding around in his brand new, hot, red Iraq (Iroc) Z convertible. It’s crazy that he got that car, because it’s a $25,000 car and that’s almost his annual salary. This is a guy who hasn’t even moved out from his parents’ house.

We went to Wendy’s, grabbed some burgers and ate in a park. After that, we went to play miniature golf. No one totaled up the card, so we don’t even know who won. Crazy people. After that, we went out to Barry’s parents’ house and walked around. It was rather cold so we had blankets over us. That was fun.

SATURDAY - I woke up and had an overdue breakfast with Bill Flynt.

I arrived in Arlington, at Louis’ at about 10:17 a.m. He was replanting a plant in his undershirt. He looked good. He has a little more muscle than I thought. It wasn’t long before we were off to Fort Worth.

It took us a while to find a parking space, but we finally parked in a lot with no attendant, so we didn’t pay. (Louis was a little worried.) It was funny. He has such a fun way about him. I like the way he talks, his phrasing of words, is somehow… funny (humorous.) We walked quite a while in Ft. Worth (Downtown) and ended up, Finally, at the GWTW exhibit. Oh, I tell you, I walked in and became teary-eyed. My first sight was of the velvet curtain dress.

("Just saw it in the window and I couldn't resist.")

We then got some fried chicken (had a little trouble finding some,) took it to a park and ate. We didn’t have a blanket, but it was fun, anyway. We walked and saw the water gardens (where Peter Ustinov stood in Logan’s Run.) That was neat!

I left about 5:00 because he had somewhere to go that night. It was a great day.

Monday

I had a fun, interesting and lonely weekend all in one. If it weren’t for Louis, it would have been an incredibly lousy weekend. But alas, there’s Louis.

FRIDAY - I was off work. I arrived at Louis’ apartment about 4:30. It wasn’t long before he was ready to go eat. I just had a salad, but he had a plateful of spaghetti. We went to Six Flags park from there. After getting the tickets for the Michael W. Smith concert, he realized that the tickets were good for the park AND concert. Louis said my little eyes brightened up. We thought we might ride a couple of rides after the concert.

The concert was really good. I had never heard of this guy before (he does music with Amy Grant.) He had a lot of latin beats, which I loved. One time… I leaned back and Louis’ arm was behind me. My breath was cut short. We went on and visited as usual, nothing unusual except I was short of breath. I put my hand lightly on his knee. After the end of that song, he clapped for it, and his arm didn’t go back. I started wondering if his arm was just stretched out, or if he really meant that to be there around ME.

After the concert, we had backstage passes and met Michael Smith. It didn’t seem anything too important since I didn’t even know who he was until that week. But nonetheless, it was neat.

When we left there, we went walking around the park and decided to ride the Cave. When doing so, we were in the back of the boat with two strangers in the front. We sorta held hands throughout. It wasn’t incredibly so, though. It’s so hard to explain. It’s like we’re interested in each other yet we’re definitely not. It’s also touchy because I enjoy him so much and we see each other so much that it would be awkward if we became involved and it broke off. I, as always, feel it needs to be his move. Little by little, if it should be, it will work out, one way or the other. If that all makes sense.

We walked around and I had my arm through his and he sure didn't seem to draw away. We only rode that one ride.

It’s all so strange. He suggested we go to Six Flags this Saturday. We then decided to take two of his nephews (Bea’s oldest) John and Eric. He said if they couldn’t go, we’d go anyway. He obviously likes me around. It’s half exciting and half frustrating.

Tuesday

Last night Kevin Knight called and announced the “good news” that John is officially engaged. How weird! He got her an almost full carat ring. My gosh! I may not really want John back, but I’d love the ring. TEE HEE! Life is funny, sometimes! When we broke up, I never thought he’d be engaged this soon. Bless his heart (and I mean that) he falls in love SO easily! I don’t doubt that he meant everything he ever said to me; and probably just as quickly as he ended things with me, he was saying those same things to Gina. Kevin’s rather excited by the whole thing. He has a little way of rubbing it in. I’m sure he doesn’t mean to, he’s young (19) and he is excited about John getting married. Truthfully, even though I liked Liz so much, I was incredibly excited when B.C. and Therese were going to get married (likewise Barbara) even when I hadn’t even met Therese and only once or twice met Barbara. (2021 comment - at this point in typing these, I have already met with John just one week ago… Never thought til now that he proposed only 5 mos. Into the relationship. In retrospect, that would be like John proposing to me in August when I was sooo/WE were sooo madly/deeply in love.. Hmmm or sigh..

Mike Gillespie became our Choir director April 29, 1987. I thought he was GREAT!
