OCTOBER 3, 1983
Monday
I didn’t see Randall at all this past weekend. I’ve decided he is a jerkface. I saw Barry both Friday and Saturday nights. (2021 comment - Barry once told me he didn’t like the way Randall was treating me and should tell me how he feels. Hence - “Tell Her About It”)
FRIDAY - Barry, Kathleen and I went to the N.G. vs. S.G. game. South Garland won, of course. We met Sherri up there. Barry and I stuck close and we enjoyed each other’s company very much. Later, we took Kathleen to Mike and Vera’s and I saw their children David (1 ½) and Derek (3 ½ months) for the first time. Derek became very attached to me and cried when I left. On the way back over to my apartment, Barry and I rode in his truck and followed Sherri. There were a lot of buggy bumpers out, and Barry enjoyed them. I, of course, only kissed him on the cheek. After a while of driving, Barry asked me if I would go on an official date with him. What I mean, is, we have gone places with other people, a few places by ourselves, but not on a Saturday night. A real date. I said Yes right off. Then I found myself get really quiet. I was hoping I had done the right thing. When we got to the apartment, (still in the truck) Barry leaned over and said “I have always waited for this moment.” I was so afraid he was going to kiss me. He did. But not a passionate kiss. A sweet, gentle peck on the lips then forehead, then he hugged me. I was so pleased with him for that. Sherri and Barry left my apartment about 1:30 a.m.

We saw double feature of "Rebel w/o A Cause and "The Outsiders"
Oct. 5 - My company, A&A adopted John Ireland Elem as their school to tutor, sponsor and help in any way possible. I was able to leave work every Wednesday and help tutor 3rd graders! It was an awesome experience!!
SATURDAY - Barry, Sherri and I saw Rebel Without a Cause and The Outsiders at the Granada. That was an excellent double feature! After that, we went to Sharla’s 19th birthday party. Nancy Quattlebaum was there, of course. (Steve Cook was there, Roger’s brother, which sure made me think of Roger.) I was having a pretty good time but both Sherri and Barry seemed to be lost. So we left after about 45 minutes. Sherri dropped Barry and I at my apartment and the two of us went up. We talked quite a lot and I told him exactly how I felt about Randall, him, etc.
I spilled it all out. Even though I know it’s all over between Randall and me, I still have feelings for him, and I told Barry I don’t want to start a relationship with anyone else until I’m over the previous one. I don’t want to let go of Barry though. I told him to please bare with me and one day I’ll come around. I hate to lose something special like what I did with Russell. Barry, Russell and Alex have a lot of similar qualities.

Thursday
Tonight Barry and I are going shopping. He needs to get some nice shoes (something besides tennis shoes) to wear out to eat and dancing this Saturday night with me. I am really looking forward to seeing him. I haven’t seen him since last Saturday night, since our talk. I have been thinking about him quite a lot since then. Randall hasn’t entered my mind much at all. Every once in a while, I wonder how it would be to become involved with Barry and then seeing Randall. It will be strange.

FRIDAY
Barry and I had so much fun last night shopping. He didn’t buy anything. I bought Bryant III a blue jeep for his third birthday, two stylish jumpsuits, and a Gone With the Wind framed movie poster. We laughed a lot, came home and sat out on my terrace and watched the rain come down. FUN!
Tonight I’m going to the N.G. Homecoming game with Kathleen. Barry, Randall and LaDonna (Barry’s ex-girlfriend) might be there. We’re supposed to look for each other. But I don’t necessarily expect them.
Tomorrow night is our (Barry and me) first date. We’re going to Red Lobster then dancing at Tango. I Can't wait! I’ll write next week and say how much fun I had.
Monday Barry, Sherri, Thomas and I are going to the fair. The State Fair. I can’t wait for that either!
OCTOBER 9, 1983 - SUNDAY
